Lorenzo Glenn is active lieutenant for the Anaheim Police Department in California. If you’re not familiar with Anaheim, it’s the epicenter of Disneyland, Angels Stadium, and the Honda Arena. Lorenzo is currently in charge of the Air Operations Unit and the Peer Support Team.
He is also the current president of the Public Safety Peer Support Association. Lorenzo has over 30 years in law enforcement experience and we got connected through Nick Wilson of The Resiliency Project (check him out on episode 130)– and here’s where the story gets interesting.
When Nick was a cop, he was best friends with Anaheim PD Officer Derek Trusk. On October 8, 2017, Officer Trusk took his own life, one of hundreds of officers to do so that year. At the time he committed suicide, Lorenzo Glenn was his supervisor.
On this episode, Lorenzo talks openly and honestly about the warning signs they missed, what more could have been done to save Derek Trusk, and how you can implement some of his lessons to prevent a tragedy from occuring at your own department. Lorenzo is a fantastic law enforcement leader and his honesty and willingness to come on this show and talk about the lessons he learned is a testament to his character.
